Senior basketball

We field men’s and women’s teams across the Dublin League, from the top divisions to grassroots. At the top of the pathway, Bright St. Vincent’s competes in the Men’s Super League, the top tier of Irish basketball. (Formerly branded DCU Saints; the club is no longer affiliated with DCU.)

Inclusive basketball — Shooting Stars

Our Inclusive Basketball Programme — Shooting Stars — provides a fun, supportive and welcoming environment for players of all abilities. Teams are organised into three ability-based groups — Junior, Intermediate and Senior — so every player can take part at a level that suits their skills and experience.

Training takes place every Sunday morning: a 45-minute session focused on basketball skills, teamwork, fitness and enjoyment. Players are encouraged to build their confidence, independence and social connections through sport.

Players should be able to follow the coaches’ instructions, with support from our dedicated team of volunteers when needed. Volunteers work alongside the coaches to provide guidance, encouragement and individual assistance, helping every player engage fully and succeed in a positive, inclusive setting.

The programme promotes participation, personal development, friendship and a love of basketball for everyone involved. Our members include players with Down syndrome, autism, physical disabilities, visual impairment and other disabilities — all are very welcome at St. Vincent’s BC.
